Vermont Coyotes Announce Historic First Signing & Press Conference for
Jose Ortiz
Barre, VT — March 25, 2025 — The Vermont Coyotes are excited to announce the signing of Jose
Ortiz, a 6'4" guard from Philadelphia, PA, as the first official player in franchise history.
Born on August 23, 1990, Ortiz played high school basketball at Math, Civics & Sciences Charter
School in Philadelphia before continuing at Delaware Valley University, where he graduated in 2015.
He has since built an impressive professional career, competing in Argentina, El Salvador, Nicaragua,
and the U.S., most recently playing for Tigres de Chinandega in Nicaragua’s TBN league. Represented
by VSM Vegerano Sports Management, Ortiz brings veteran leadership and a winning mentality to the
Coyotes.
